How the Asian Grammar School used Tilli to help 1st Graders better manage their big emotions!

Here’s how within just 12 weeks of Tilli, the Asian Grammar School saw transformational changes in the emotion awareness and management skills of their first-graders:

Nothing brings us more joy than to see our school impact reports and witness kids and teachers building stronger Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) skills. When Ms. Savini Tennakoon, the trailblazing Acting Principal of Asian Grammar School reached out to us we knew it was a partnership for the books!

Since implementing our research-based, play-focused SEL curriculum teachers are seeing measurable improvements in emotional awareness, self-management, and empathy.

Key findings

In our recent learning outcomes assessment at Asian Grammar School, we saw 3 incredible results within just 12 weeks of Tilli:

• Reduction in Behavioral Complaints: 100% of Teachers surveyed reported seeing a significant reduction in disciplinary issues.

• Improvement in Emotional Awareness: Over 73% of students demonstrated enhanced emotional awareness, indicating their ability to recognize and name their emotions.

• Increase in Classroom Engagement: Teachers reported a significant improvement in student engagement during Tilli activities, with 90% of students participating actively.

What did we do?

We introduced Tilli’s SEL program to hundreds of students at Asian Grammar School. Teachers joined our tried and tested upskilling program where they gained a toolbox of interventions, frameworks, and teaching strategies for the world of SEL.

This support included:

• 36 Play-Based Interventions: Each week, students engaged in a research-based, playful activity focused on a key skill—like managing emotions, practicing empathy, or setting goals.

• Teacher Training & Support: We provided teachers with a full SEL toolkit, teacher guidebooks, refresher training at the start of each semester, and weekly support via WhatsApp so they could confidently bring these new lessons to life.

• 55% of Teachers now feel confident in guiding children through self-management techniques to handle big emotions.
  

• 46% of Teachers report high confidence in helping students recognize and empathize with others' feelings, strengths, and areas for growth.
